Sweet violets are hardy perennials native to Eurasia. It is commonly found near the edges of forests, and in clearings. Plants spread by solons. Leaves are mid green and heart shaped. Flower colour varies in shades of white, pink and blue. Flowers are scented. Both the flowers and leaves are edible. The flowers are popular for garnishes and cake decorating. They are great groundcovers for a naturalistic woodland garden.
