About Bee Haven Gardens

Welcome to Bee Haven Gardens – a two acre home garden and Nursery. We officially started our nursery in 2020, though I have been growing my own plants for many years, collecting seed and cuttings wherever I can, often coming home with pockets full of seed.

We like to grow plants that are useful and beautiful. We are particularly keen to create a healthy habitat for wildlife, our bees and our families. With our dry summers and late frosts, that can be a challenge. But it does mean we understand what will grow for you, too.

That doesn’t stop us from trying to push the boundaries though, and we are discovering the benefits of good shelter to create places in which some marginal plants can thrive too. More of these plants will become available in the nursery as propagation material becomes available. You may see some of these pop up in our photo gallery or on Facebook and Instagram.

All of our plants can be ordered through our online shop. You can also make an appointment to view and purchase our stock in person. We also enjoy having groups visit our garden. Please contact us to make arrangements.

All of our plants are grown right here at home from seeds, cuttings, and divisions.

Please inquire if there is a special plant you are looking for. If we can’t help you, we may be able to put you onto someone who can.

Growing to Order

We grow Heirloom tomatoes to order (see details below). If there are other plants in our range that you would like in bulk for a project, please let us know as we are happy to help.

Heirloom Tomatoes

We have grown tomatoes in Hawke’s Bay for about twenty years now and collecting our own seed from the best of them. Because we experience late frosts in Ongaonga (November), our tomatoes are started in the greenhouse in pb2 pots so they have plenty of room to grow before we plant them out after frosts. Plants are $5.00 each. Orders need to be received by the 1^st September. Plants are available for pick up from the 18^th of October. We do free deliveries to Waipukurau, Waipawa, Ongaonga and Tikokino in that week.

Opening Hours

Most shopping is now online. You are welcome to make an appointment to view our plants in person or visit our gardens. Arrangements can be made for picking up orders too. A 20% discount applies to plants bought in-store or picked up. Phone: 0278765085

Landscaping and Designing

I offer landscaping and planting advice along with a design service. I have extensive knowledge and experience of soil and climate conditions around Hawkes bay from more than 15 years of running a garden business in the area. You can read more about this service by clicking the link above.
