Who Am I

Louise-Phillips-Bee-Haven-Gardens-Ongaonga-NZ

Kia ora,

I’m Louise and I live on 17 Ha of Flat land in Sunny Hawkes Bay which I share with husband Pete, a daughter, son in law, two grandchildren, our dog Scout, a varying number of chickens, 2 goats, a few cattle, and a diverse range of smaller wildlife. Not forgetting the thousands of plants to support them all.

We love turning our space into a haven for wildlife, feeding our family and friends, and generally enjoying the beauty of nature.

With my love for propagating and seed collecting, it was a natural progression to develop a nursery. We have focussed particularly on plants for bees and plants that suit our soil and climate.

We are passionate about permaculture, and try to incorporate the principles and ethics of Earth Care, People Care and Fair Share into our garden, in the community and within our family.

I also enjoy pushing the boundaries on what will grow, and designing attractive planting schemes. I hope to share some of those with you, too (successes and failures). Of course, when you grow food there is a bit of cooking and preserving that happens, some of those are on here too. Feel free to read more about our nursery.

Hope you enjoy following our journey.
