Plants will be available from early October.
We have grown heirloom tomatoes in Hawke’s Bay for about twenty years and collecting the seed from the best of them. We love heirloom tomatoes best for their taste, and variety. Many of the old heirloom varieties have also been shown to have health benefits not seen in many modern hybrids. We are sure you will enjoy them too.
Tomato plants are started from seed in our greenhouse in August and are available for sale from early October. Because we experience late frosts- last frost is usually mid-November, we are unable to harden plants outside before sale. We suggest plants need a hardening off period of at least a week before planting out in the garden. Tomato plants can be repotted easily into larger pots, if like us you prefer to plant out in the garden at the end of November or early December. All our Tomato plants are sold in 9 cm pots.
Please note we are unable to freight tomato plants. Plants can be either:
Picked up from our nursery in Ongaonga
Or picked up from one of the local drop off points below.
Waipawa: The Waipawa Organic grocer, 100 High Street Waipawa.
Waipukurau: Winloves, 107 Ruataniwha Street Waipukurau.
Plants will usually be dropped off before 1 pm on Tuesdays unless contacted otherwise.
