Description
Common names: Lipstick strawberry, Monrovia
Fragaria x ‘Lipstick’ is the result of a cross between Fragaria (strawberry) and Comarum (cinquefoil). It is mainly grown as an ornamental, but the fruits are edible and tasty. Flowers are a deep rose pink, on a mound of deep green leaves. Plants are hardy in sun or part shade as long as they have a little moisture. Flowering is better in the sun. Fragaria ‘Lipstick’ does not produce viable seed but will spread by runners like other strawberries. Plants are useful as pretty ground covers between pavers, along rockery edges and garden paths and in pots.
