Description
Common name: White wood aster
Eurybia divaricata is found naturally in the dry open woods, woodland edges, and clearings of the Eastern parts of North America. It is an herbaceous perennial with narrow, serrated heart-shaped leaves. Tall wiry stems support Clouds of small flowers with yellow centers and white rays from late summer through autumn.
These are hardy woodland plants which do best with some shade, at least in the hotter parts of the country. They are tolerant of some dry shade too. A lovely colour bonus for the woodland garden. Attractive to bees and butterflies. The seeds are popular with finches through the winter months.
