Common name: pale purple cone flower

The pale purple coneflower is a herbaceous perennial native to the central region of the United States and Ontario, Canada. Plants have long taproots giving it some drought tolerance, though they do have a preference for moisture as long as drainage is good and they are in full sun. Plants have narrow lance shaped leaves – much narrower than E. purpurea. Leaves can look very similar to plantain though a little fuzzier. Hint: If you get lots of plantain pop up in your garden, as we do, I suggest marking plants so that you don’t accidentally pull them up when weeding. Plants are completely winter dormant.

Flower head rays are narrow and drooping of a pale rose pink round a central cone. The whole effect is quite graceful.
