Description

Eryngium yuccifolium is an herb native to the tall grass prairies of central and eastern North America. As its species name suggests the plant has Yucca like blue green leaves 15 – 100 cm long, and 1 – 3 cm wide. Plants have a central taproot surrounded by thick fleshy fibrous roots.
The flower stem grows up to 1.8 meters tall with 10 – 40 ball shaped umbels of tiny florets of greenish white. A stunning architectural plant for a sunny border. Summer flowering. Loved by bees and butterflies.
