A. caerulea is a flowering perennial native to the Rocky Mountains of the USA, and is the state flower of Colorado. Gorgeous long -spurred, two- toned flowers top ferny grey green foliage for several weeks from late spring to early summer. Plants can be short lived but will self seed freely. Plants do best with some moisture but good drainage in a lightly shaded spot. They will cope with full sun as long as they have moisture.
