Description

Common name: Billy buttons, billy balls, woollyheads

Native to the inland areas of NSW Australia. P. globosus is found in dry woodland and open shrubby grassland patches. The plant forms rosettes of silvery green narrow leaves. The flowers form on wiry stems above the foliage – a large number of florets are grouped together atop each stem to look like one flower and resembling a yellow ball.

Plants grow best with good drainage in full sun and good airflow – gravelly soils and rock gardens are ideal. Flowers are excellent for cutting, and removing flowers will encourage more blooms.
