Description
Common names: pussytoes, catsfoot, mountain everlasting, catspaws
Antennaria dioica comes from the mountainous regions of Eurasia and North America. It is a slow spreading evergreen groundcover with gorgeous silvery grey rosettes of spoon shaped leaves. Upright flower stalks appear from late spring through summer with clusters of white-pink flowers which resemble the pads of a cat’s paw in shape- hence the common names.
Plants are hardy as long as they have good drainage, otherwise they are likely to suffer from root rot. A beautiful plant for rock gardens, gravel gardens, between pavers, and for the front of a border. Plants are tolerant of poor and dry soils once established.
