Common name: Canadian goldenrod

Canadian goldenrod is an herbaceous perennial native to northeastern and north-central North America. Plants are very robust spreading rhizomes with tall straight flower spikes up to 1.2 meters.  The flower florets are arranged in a pyramidal shape on the stalks.

Flowers are a particularly good source of pollen and Nectar for bees and butterflies. Plants are also a useful dye plant producing warm yellow colours. Plants preferred habitat is moist but have no problems coping with our dry areas in full sun. I suspect could be invasive in wetter areas. Flowering mid to late summer.
