Rugosa roses are native to eastern Asia and southeastern Siberia, where it grows on beach coasts and sometimes sand dunes. The Latin word “rugosa” means “wrinkled” referring to its wrinkled leaves.
Rosa rugosa are tough suckering shrubs which can form thickets to 1.5 meters. Prickles are numerous, short, and straight. leaves are dark green and wrinkled. Flowers are large single and scented. Flower colour is variable from shades of white, pale pink, and dark pink. Flowers are a favourite for Bumblebees, and several can often be seen inside a single flower. Flowers are followed by gorgeous large red hips. Great for rosehip syrup and Jelly – or just for the birds to enjoy. These make beautiful hedges too.
These plants are cutting grown from pink flowering bushes.
