Description
Common names: tuberous catmint, catnip, Spanish catmint
A tuberous catmint species native to the Iberian Peninsula, Morocco, and Algeria. Like other members of the genus plants are very hardy perennials with grey green leaves. The fine hairs that cover this species give it a silvery appearance. Flowers form dense upright spikes of purply mauve flowers in summer.
Plants form fleshy tuberous roots, which likely is a water storage adaptation for drought.
