Monarda didyma – Bergamot

Description

Common names: crimson beebalm, scarlet beebalm, scarlet monarda, Eau-de-cologne plant, Oswego tea, Bergamot

An aromatic North American herb that can grow to 1.2 meters in flower with a spread of about half a meter. The bright red flowers are tubular and borne in clusters atop the strong stems. Leaves have a minty scent, and the flowers are a favourite with bees. Plants do best with regular moisture and good drainage in sun or semi shade.  These are seed grown plants so please expect some colour variation.
