Common name: gooseneck loosestrife
The gooseneck loosestrife is native to China and Japan. It grows naturally in damp woodland margins, wet ravines and forests, sunny grassy hills and mountain slopes. Plants are herbaceous perennials that spread by underground stolon’s and can be vigorous in moist soils. Flower spikes are 30-45 cm long and bloom for weeks in mid to late summer. The cut flowers are popular for bridal bouquets. Leaves turn a beautiful orange red before falling in Autumn.
