Description

Common names: Maltese cross, scarlet lychnis, cross of Jerusalem

A stunning herbaceous perennial for the sunny garden, though not as dry tolerant as its relatives the Lychnis coronaria preferring moist but well drained soils. Plants form clumps of lush bright green foliage. Flowers are large and scarlet red and appear from early to late summer. Low maintenance plants that are also attractive to butterflies.
