Description
Common name: Hummingbird mint
My favourite of the Agastache. The stunning orange apricot flowers bloom over a long period on robust plants in full sun. The flowers have just a hint of soft lilac in bud and at the base of the flowers which blends beautifully with catmints (nepeta species) and Agastache rugosa ‘Licorice blue’. The Bushy grey green leaves have a soft minty scent. Native to North America plants grow best in full sun with good drainage and are dry tolerant. Sources suggest they should grow to 40 cms in flower but some of mine are well over that and up to 90cm*. As its common name suggests in its native home it is a magnet for hummingbirds, in NZ it is enjoyed by bees and butterflies.
